Teaching Assistant for PHIL 24b Philosophy of Religion (Spring 2014)
Office: Rabb 248
Office Hours: Tues. 4pm - 5pm
After growing up in Maryland and California, Tom went to college at Willamette University in Oregon, entering with the intention to study poetry and finishing with a degree in philosophy. Initially drawn to the discipline through curiosity about religious questions, he went through phases of exclusive interest in metaphysics and epistemology before finally settling on ethics and political philosophy as his preferred areas. Recently, his philosophical projects have included examining the concept of power, studying the relative advantages and disadvantages of deontology and consequentialism, and assessing perfectionist accounts of rightness. Outside of philosophy, he enjoys gaming, frequently attempts to cook, and hopes to eventually return to Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
