Jerry Samet is a graduate of Yeshiva University and received his PhD from CUNY Graduate Center, where he did his thesis on epistemological issues in Chomskyan linguistics. He became a member of the Philosophy Department in 1983, after a post-doctoral fellowship at the Yale University Cognitive Science Program and teaching stints at the University of Pennsylvania, Wellesley, and Bentley College. His current interests are in the Philosophy of Mind, Cognitve Science, and the History of Modern Philosophy, and he is currently completing work on a book on the role of the innate ideas controversy in Plato, Locke, and Leibniz.
