Emergent behavior in the Macroworld
The Chakraborty group at Brandeis University has an immediate opening for a postdoctoral position. The research focus is theoretical studies of rigidity in athermal, particulate systems. This is part of a larger collaborative project with Bob Behringer at Duke University and Corey O'Hern at Yale University, which is aimed at developing a predictive theoretical framework for systems that are inherently out of thermal equilibrium. The candidate should have demonstrated experience in statistical physics and condensed matter physics, and should be highly motivated to work closely with experimentalists. This is a two-year position, renewable for a third year based on the availability of funds.
Review of applications will begin on September 1, 2014. The candidate should send a CV and letters of recommendation to the following address.
