Physics Club
The purpose of the Physics Club is to stimulate interest in physics and science. The club's goal will be to inform people of current issues within the science community and university, offer help to students studying the sciences and engage in activities promoting awareness and research. The club also has Museum of Science Memberships. Let us know if you want to go!
During Fall 2010, we plan to hold a few tutorial sessions on using and programming in Mathematica and MATLAB, as well as continue participating in the activities we did last year.
During the 2009-10 school year, we participated in outreach opportunities in the Waltham area. These included participating in "Halloween for the Hungry" in October, helping Waltham High School's Robotics Team prepare for the FIRST Tech Challenge competition, running the "Shock Value" event at the Massachusetts Division B Middle School Science Olympiad State Competition, and giving a presentation on the "Physics of Sound" to local middle school students through the Afternoon Enrichment and Language and Culture Enrichment (LaCE) programs (shown in the slideshow above).
During the 2008-09 school year we completed a three-part project for the Bernstein Festival of the Creative Arts .The project combined a Birefringence Mural, a Rube-Goldberg Machine, and a Theremin. You may check out a video montage of it here.
