Classroom Problems
Q.The classroom I teach in is too hot/cold/noisy/smelly. What can I do?
A. Contact facilities at x64385.
Q. I need markers for the white boards/chalk for the chalkboard in my classroom.
A. Contact Quinn, x63232. Markers, chalk, pens, letterhead, envelopes, etc. are located in Shiffman 107 on the right side of the bottom shelf on the wall. There is also a small supplies area (markers, chalk, transparencies, pens, post-its, staples, etc.) in the Resource Room on the bookcase across from the door. If you notice that supplies are running low, please let someone in the office know.
Copier Problems
Q. We are out of paper, the copier is jammed or otherwise not working and the office is closed or busy. What do I do?
A. Extra paper is under the table to the right of the copier. If the copier is jammed, try to unjam it by following the steps on the screen. If that doesn't work, call x64500 and report the problem "out of paper," "copier jammed," "copier not working," etc. Our Copier ID is DJ713.
Q. How do I get my e-mail address?
A. Create a UNet account through LTS.
Q. I want to change my password for my e-mail, where do I go?
A. Click here for the link to the form.
Q. How do I get my Brandeis e-mail to work when I am at Brandeis?
A. You need to configure the program that you are using to connect to the Brandeis server by getting the incoming and outgoing address. We recommend using Mozilla Thunderbird as your e-mail program. Download it, then use these instructions to configure it to the Brandeis server.
Q. How do I get my Brandeis e-mail to work from home?
A. Just log in at this page with your email UNET ID (which is everything before the @ symbol of your Brandeis email address). You can also install Thunderbird on your home computer using these instructions.
Computer Problems
Q. My computer is very slow or a program will not work properly. Can someone come and see what is wrong with it?
A. Contact LTS at x67782 and select prompt 1.
Phone Problems
Q. How do I set up my voicemail?
A. Instructions for initial voicemail setup are here.
Q. How do I check my voicemail from home?
A. Call 781-736-2222, press *, enter your ID (extension followed by #), and enter your password followed by #.
Q. My phone voicemail has someone else on it. What do I do?
A. E-mail ITSVOICE or call x67782 and select prompt 2
Q. My phone is dead! Help!
A. E-mail ITSVOICE or call x67782 and select prompt 2.
Printing
Q. How do I connect to the network printers?
A. Read this. If you have a Mac, follow these supplementary instructions, using the IP addresses from that document.
Q. The printer isn't working.
A. Make sure the printer is on and has paper. If the printer is displaying an error message, follow the prompts on the screen. If that doesn't fix the problem, contact LTS at x67782 and select prompt 1.
Latte
Q. How do I get my class tapes onto Latte?
A. E-mail Dave Wedaman every semester.
Q. If my students have problems with Latte, what do I do?
A. The technical support will help them—it is not your responsibility to be the technician! Direct them to this link, or have them call the Help Desk.
Audio/Video

It is important that a faculty member be present for film showings. Serious security issues may arise when students are left alone in Shiffman at night or even during the day.
Library Reserves
Q. I need to put a film on reserve. Can I do that online?
A. Yes. E-mail reserve@brandeis.edu.
Office Administration
Q. Can someone copy/scan articles for me?A. Yes, but large copy jobs should go through the copy center. For individual articles, syllabi and other small jobs, we have student workers in the office who can do that for you. Speak with Quinn if you need something scanned or copied, give at least a week's notice, and, (provided there is student staffing) we will get most projects completed in 3 to 4 business days.
