Jasmine Vallejo Class of 2003 Concentration: Sociology

My research project will be a comparative study of Latino activist organizations, community centers, and churches in the eastern and southern areas of the United States. I want to discover how these community activists organize, what types of programs they run and how effective they are, and the relationship between community leaders in politics and their constituents. I will look at participatory democracy and try to find reasons for why it breaks down.
