Professor Ted Sasson is a Visiting Research Associate Professor of Sociology. He also has an appointment as a Senior Scholar with the Cohen Center for Modern Research Studies at Brandeis. Fall semesters he teaches at Middlebury College, where he recently served as Chair of the Department of Sociology. Professor Sasson's academic expertise is in political sociology with an emphasis on political discourse, social problems, and diaspora studies. He is author of Crime Talk: How Citizens Construct a Social Problem (Aldine, 1995), and co-author of The Politics of Injustice: Crime and Punishment in America (1999, 2004, Sage Press), as well as numerous book chapters and scholarly articles. At the Cohen Center, he is the Co-principal Investigator for the birthright israel evaluation. In addition, he is working on a book on American Jewish attitudes toward Israel, and on a collaborative project, based in Israel, on conflict and consensus in Israeli political culture.
