University Ombuds

Members of the University Ombuds staff are a confidential, independent, impartial and informal resource for all undergraduates and graduate students. We help with the following:

  • Meet personally with you to listen to your concerns and to discuss options for conflict resolution
  • Offer a safe space to talk confidentially and off the record about difficult situations
  • Strategize about ways to handle a problematic situation
  • Provide information about university policy
  • Assist with both written and verbal communication, identify other university resources, and/or facilitate difficult conversations

We can help with any of the following:

  • Problems with discrimination or harassment
  • Concerns about unethical, uncivil, or inappropriate behavior
  • Interpersonal difficulties of students with faculty, staff, or other students
  • Concerns about campus politics, climate, and equity
  • Difficulty identifying or accessing university resources
  • Problems with lack of institutional responsiveness
  • Concerns about fairness or due process
  • Need for guidance on how to have difficult conversations and communicate respectfully

Any Brandeis student is welcome to bring concerns or conflicts to us.
