What We Do

The Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion is committed to working collaboratively with our campus community to assess and support its strengths and needs in an effort to build high-quality programming that evokes social change.

Strategies, processes and initiatives that further institutional diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) outcomes are creative and flexible. While it is essential that there be a unifying strategic thread that links all campus departments, DEI outcomes and processes are developed based on the particular strengths and needs of individual academic, professional and social campus communities.

Please refer to our guiding philosophy for community engagement to learn more about our beliefs about developing strong, mutual and supportive working alliances.

Services

Short-term and Ongoing Development, Education, and Training

The Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion offers general and more specific educational opportunities for faculty, staff, and students. Our standard programming is offered in an ongoing way throughout the academic year and summer. For educational opportunities that are specifically tailored to fit the strengths and needs of individual groups or departments, the Office of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion staff members will collaboratively develop this type of programming with faculty, staff, or students.

Coaching

The Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion offers individual coaching for community members who wish to develop a particular idea, program, or curricular strategy using diversity, equity, and inclusion frameworks and strategies. Coaching participants meet with a member of Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion staff for four sessions (introduction and assessment; assessment and implementation; implementation and next steps; next steps, ending, and evaluation).

Search and Selection

In support of our institutional goal of increasing racial diversity among faculty and staff, the ODEI works with managers, faculty chairs, and search and selection teams to assess and modify processes and practices related to search, selection, and retention.

Funding and Co-sponsorship

The Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (ODEI) collaborates with offices and departments that are seeking financial support for a program, event, or research endeavor that is in line with the mission of the ODEI. The ODEI provides co-sponsorship funds, up to $500, on a first come, first served basis and for as long as funds are available. Please note that applying for funding does not guarantee. Incomplete applications will not be considered. The ODEI does not co-sponsor events that take place off campus. All applications will be reviewed by three ODEI staff and require 10 working days ahead of a decision. Below, please find application requirements.
