U.S. Rep. Edward Markey and Panel of Environmental Entrepreneurs

RECAP

This event took place on Sunday, April 13th from 4 - 6:30 p.m. in the Rapaporte Treasure Hall.

Braving a raining Sunday afternoon, a large audience gathered to hear Congressman Edward Markey, Chair of the Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming, speak about the political will needed to jumpstart the inevitable Green Revolution. Markey spoke of the bright future for America if the country embraces a clean energy economy. Sighting several of his failed efforts to pass environmentally friendly bills, he called for greater political effort in the face of global climate change.

Immediately following Congressman Markey's speech was a panel featuring President and Founder of Solar Design Associates, Steven Strong, and the Director of Institutional Greening Programs for the NGO Green Seal, Mark Rentschler. The men spoke about their roles in the coming green revolution and how entrepreneurs and NGOs can act in the battle against climate change.  Both Mr. Strong and Mr. Rentschler sited personal actions that their organizations took to combat climate change, such as designing and marketing solar panels and advising companies on green purchasing practices.
