Ruth Messinger discussed her experiences in New York City politics and her current work as president of American Jewish World Service [AJWS]. Since early 1999, she has served as president of AJWS, "a not-for-profit organization providing non-sectarian humanitarian support, technical assistance and emergency relief to people in need regardless of race, ethnicity or religion, in Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, Russia and Ukraine."
