Ruth Messinger discussed her experiences in New York City politics and her current work as president of American Jewish World Service [AJWS]. Since early 1999, she has served as president of AJWS, "a not-for-profit organization providing non-sectarian humanitarian support, technical assistance and emergency relief to people in need regardless of race, ethnicity or religion, in Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, Russia and Ukraine." She discussed an exceptional and interesting career and to talked about opportunities to become active on domestic and international social justice issues.
