February 16, 2001
The Peace and Conflict Studies Program and the Brandeis Initiative in Intercommunal Coexistence presented two perspectives on recent events in the Middle East.
Wendy Orange, author of Coming Home to Jerusalem, discussed her book and her perspective on recent developments in Israel. Orange is a Jewish American writer and therapist who spent several years in Jerusalem and writes with compassion about Jews and Palestinians in the conflict between the two peoples.
Farhat Agbaria, coexistence facilitator and '98 Brandeis International Fellow, discussed recent events in Israel from his perspective as an Palestinian Israeli who has worked in the coexistence field for over two decades. Farhat directs Face-to-Face, a program for high school students based at the Jewish-Arab Center for Peace in Givat Haviva. He also has worked as a coexistence facilitator at Seeds of Peace International Camp since the camp's inception in 1993.
