Aang Serian Peace Village: Preserving and Promoting Maasai Culture

Founded by young people in Tanzania in March 1999, Aang Serian Peace Village is dedicated to preserving indigenous traditions and traditional knowledge and to promoting indigenous culture locally and abroad. Aang Serian and meaning House of Peace in the Maasai language initiates cultural exchanges, sustainable development projects and skill building opportunities. Aang Serian supports Fair Trade products, offers free English classes, and works with AIDS and general health issues. This event was sponsored by the Center and the Brandeis Initiative in Intercommunal Coexistence.
