Center Faculty Associate Reflects on Iraq War

Kanan Makiya, the Sylvia K. Hassenfeld Professor of Islamic and Middle East Studies and a faculty associate of the Center, has written an article for Slate magazine upon the fifth anniversary of the invasion of Iraq reflecting on his original support for the action. Makiya's books include Republic of Fear (1989) and Cruelty and Silence (1993), which were among the first works to expose to the world the brutalities of Saddam Hussein's regime.
