Center Board Member Publishes New Book
April 1, 2009
National Book Award-winning and bestselling author James Carroll, a member of the Ethics Center Advisory Board, has written a new book titled Practicing Catholic. Released today, the book explores why the author, a former priest, remains a practicing Catholic and examines the history of the Catholic Church.
A previous book of Carroll's, Constantine's Sword, which examines the history of anti-Semitism in the Catholic Church, is now the subject of a documentary available on DVD. A columnist for the Boston Globe, Carroll is currently teaching an undergraduate course at Brandeis called "Sacred Violence: An Investigation in History and Theology," which explores the relationship between religion and violence, with special focus on Judaism, Islam, and Christianity.
