Center Partnerships
Al-Quds University/Brandeis University Exchange
Brandeis University and Al-Quds University, an Arab institution in Jerusalem, have launched a unique intercultural partnership in an exchange designed to foster cultural understanding and provide educational opportunities for students, faculty, and staff. The goals of the Al-Quds/Brandeis relationship are to improve the administrative and infrastructure capacities at Al-Quds, one of Palestine's nascent civic institutions; strengthen academics and offer opportunities for faculty, staff, and students at both institutions; and educate the campuses about the advantages of cooperation, goodwill, and understanding.
The Newcomers Among Us Series
The Seminar Series brings together people who work with immigrants and refugees in the Boston area with the aim of building a network of professionals who can advise and consult one another in this critical and growing field. Newcomers is a collaboration of the Center, Spheres of Exchange, and the Framingham State College Center for Global Education.
Arab/Jewish Student Dialogue
Ongoing student projects and activities relating to the Middle East initiated by a weeklong retreat in February 2001.
A New Public Education
A Brandeis-based project designed to bring focus and a set of new ideas to the debate about the future of public education in Massachusetts and in the nation.
CHYME (Community Histories by Youth in the Middle East)
A program in cooperation with MASAR (Jordan), Givat Haviva (Israel), and the Palestinian House of Friendship (PNA) to build capacity within a cohort of exemplary youth leaders, enabling them to design and implement cross-border community research projects.
Global Partnerships for Education (pdf)
Links Brandeis students and faculty with education programs in Chelsea, Massachusetts, the Caribbean island nation of Greneda, and Haifa, Israel to create teams that explore family, community, and the cultural, aesthetic, historical, and intellectual inheritances of youth as sources of learning. Participants will apply the skills learned to strengthen their communities and enhance the relationships of distinct cultural groups within and between communities.
