Classical Studies Artifact Research Center

Ann Olga Koloski-Ostrow
Research Interests
: Roman and Greek art and archaeology. Latin language and literature. Mythology in Greek and Roman Art. Roman Social History and Daily Life.
Qualifications
: The internship at CLARC (Classical Studies Artifact Research Center) and the Eunice M. Lebowitz Fellowship program are available to majors and minors in the Department of Classical Studies. Just a love for the world of Greek and Roman antiquity.
Responsibilities
: Student interns gain hands-on experience in collection management, photography, restoration, and exhibition with a variety of ancient artifacts (made of glass, metals, ceramics, and stone) in preparation for careers in art and archaeology or in museum studies and archives. 

Cohen Center for Modern Jewish Studies

Leonard Saxe
Research Interests
: Methodology/research design/evaluation research; mental health programs/interventions; evaluation of polygraph/lie detector testing; socio-demography of the Jewish community; Jewish identity and education
Qualifications
: Knowledge of Jewish Studies/Jewish community/Hebrew; Statistical knowledge/ with quantitative data analysis; Knowledge of Social Psychology/sociology; Training/experience interviewing/participant observation; Computer skills (PC support, web design, database management); Writing/editing skills
Responsibilities
: To work as research  assistants for teams doing social scientific studies of Jewish education, identity, and demography. The tasks are varied -- from doing interviews, to coding and transcribing, to data analysis and editing.

Mandel Center for Studies in Jewish Education

Sharon Feiman-Nemser
Research Interests
: Elementary education. Jewish education. Teacher education.
Qualifications
: Background in and understanding of Jewish educational institutions. Background in and understanding of classical Jewish studies (especially Bible and rabbinic literature). Background in and understanding of the contemporary Jewish community.
Responsibilities
: Library work, literature reviews, possibly classroom observations, possibly coding of data.

Jon A. Levisohn
Research Interests
: Philosophy of education. Jewish education. Hermeneutics and the epistemology of the humanities. Scholarship of teaching classical Jewish texts.
Qualifications
: Background in and understanding of Jewish educational institutions. Background in and understanding of classical Jewish studies (especiallyBible and rabbinic literature). Background in and understanding of the contemporary Jewish community.
Responsibilities
: Library work, literature reviews, possibly classroom observations, possibly coding of data. 

Rosenstiel Medical Science Research Center

Dagmar Ringe
Research Interests
: Protein crystallography and structural enzymology. Rational drug design.
Qualifications
: Some knowledge of laboratory procedures.
Responsibilities
: Tasks on a continuum from lab support for experiments being done by others to independent projects

Neil Simister
Research Interests
: Molecular immunology. Antibody transport.
Qualifications
: Students should have completed Biol 18 or have worked in a life science research lab.
Responsibilities
: Students will use mammalian cell culture and molecular biology methods to investigate functions of an antibody transporter.

Volen Center for Complex Systems

Piali Sengupta
Research Interests: Developmental neurobiology in C. elegans.
Qualifications:  Bio22 and Bio18. A student who is currently enrolled in these courses may also apply.
Responsibilities: Students will work with a graduate student or postdoc in the lab initially on a research project. Eventually, they will carry out a senior thesis project independently.

Gina Turrigiano
Research Interests: Experience-dependent plascity of cortical synapses and circuits.
Qualifications: Students must have some prior lab experience (i.e. chemistry lab course, bio labs).
Responsibilities: Learning the basics of lab equipment use, helping with lab chores, do independent research under the supervision of grad students or postdocs.

Women's Studies Research Center

Shulamit Reinharz
Research Interests
: Jewish women's studies. History of women in sociology. Sociology of work. Qualitative and feminist methodology.
Responsibilities: There are numerous research projects going on, and there are always opportunities for undergraduates to be involved.
Qualifications: Language skills in  Dutch and German.
