ProfileDr. Mihaela Papa's research explores how international institutions can more effectively and fairly manage transnational problems, particularly climate change. Her dissertation from the Fletcher School/Tufts examined how states forum shop in response to negotiation deadlocks and analyzed UN climate negotiations. In her postdoctoral studies at Harvard Law School and at Fudan University, Mihaela has investigated the rise of emerging powers (the BRICS) and their impact on global governance, especially the investment regime. She has extensively published on sustainable development and global governance, including in peer-reviewed journals such as Global Environmental Change, Climate Policy and Chinese Journal of International Politics. She taught in these fields at Boston University, Tufts University and the University of Geneva, and worked for the International Institute for Sustainable Development and Croatian Foreign Ministry.
