Profile

Edward Chazen is Head of the Real Estate Specialization at IBS. He teaches a variety of real estate courses at IBS and also manages a new Field Studies in Real Estate course, where teams of students work on consulting projects for Boston-area real estate companies. In addition, Prof. Chazen collaborates with the IBS Career Services Office to meet real estate companies and assist students with internships and full-time job opportunities in the real estate industry. He is also faculty adviser to the Real Estate Club.

Prof. Chazen brings 27 years of experience working in the real estate investment industry, including 12 years as a senior investment officer for several prominent investment management companies, such as TCW (Trust Company of the West) Realty Advisors and Urdang / BNY Mellon Capital Management. For ten years he was a principal in two companies that arranged joint ventures between real estate companies and institutional investors, such as pension funds, endowment managers and private equity funds. He began his real estate career as a loan officer at GE Capital. Over the course of his career Prof. Chazen has been involved in closing over $ 3 billion of real estate transactions in major US cities.


His teaching experience includes seven years as an Instructor at Boston University / Metropolitan College, where he taught the core real estate development course; and, since 2010 he has taught a real estate finance course at the Olin Graduate School of Business at Babson College.
