Profile

Joshua Katzen is a real estate developer and investor living in Newton, MA. He has purchased, developed and renovated approximately 1.5 million square feet of retail space for national tenants such as Home Depot, Target, Trader Joe’s, Circuit City, BJ’s Wholesale Club, Stop & Shop, Borders Books and others. In addition, he has acquired or developed approximately 1,800 apartment units. As Manager of Heller Property Management LLC, Mr. Katzen oversees the day-to-day management of approximately 800,000 square feet of commercial space.



Mr. Katzen’s first real estate project was the founding and development of the Moosewood Restaurant in Ithaca, NY in 1972. Prior to starting his development company, Mr. Katzen worked as an attorney at the Boston law firm Goulston & Storrs and as a law clerk in Federal District Court in Delaware.



Mr. Katzen has an undergraduate degree from Cornell University and the London School of Economics and a law degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. He teaches Real Estate Development at the International School of Business at Brandeis University and at the Recanati School of Business at Tel Aviv University.
