Educating Leaders in Fundraising and Philanthropy
The Fisher-Bernstein Institute for Jewish Philanthropy and Leadership is dedicated to strengthening the human and financial resources essential to the Jewish communal infrastructure. Through its flagship program, Development at the Core, it helps communal agencies and other nonprofit organizations increase efficiency and effectiveness in their fundraising. The Institute also produces research and instructional materials to inform efforts to raise the practice of fundraising within the Jewish community.
Development at the Core is a capacity building program. It is based on the premise that fundraising is everyone’s job and not solely the responsibility of the director of development. Professional leaders learn how to focus their organization on fundraising and create a culture of giving. Over the course of the program, participants diagnose their current fundraising operations, create a fundraising plan for the coming year, and prepare the organization for its implementation. Our metric of success is that participating organizations exceed their fundraising goals.
