Truth at Stake

The post-Holocaust era has presented difficult problems. How do we protect historical truth? How do we teach truth to our children? Scholars, government officials, educators, and philanthropists--often in partnership with one another--have risen to the leadership challenges of this era. "Truth at Stake" invited Brandeis alumna, Deborah Lipstadt (M.A. ’72, Ph.D. ’76) to discuss her six-year legal battle with David Irving. Entrepreneur and philanthropist Leslie Wexner described how philanthropists worked together to raise $1.5 million for the defense in the Irving-Lipstadt trial. Stuart Eizenstat, Howard Gardner, and Margot Stern Strom engaged in a thought-provoking panel discussion, ranging from the billion dollar “Swiss gold affair” to the challenges of moral education.
