The Framework for the Future

Student Learning/Living Experience

This task force was asked to consider how a more holistic community for all our students could be developed — one that integrates academic and co-curricular experiences and provides students with a sense of home and belonging on campus. This group was asked to gather a myriad of data, including best practices from peer institutions, and assess existing and potential new resources at Brandeis for undergraduate and graduate students. The group was charged to make specific recommendations in the form of a report to be delivered to the president by mid-spring 2019.

The objectives of this task force were broad, and the expectations were that its recommendations would be comprehensive. The Task Force was charged with making recommendations to transform the residence life experience into a more vibrant, inclusive and engaged experience; to rethink how to build relationships between faculty and students, in the advising system and the residence halls; and to address concerns about social life on and off campus.

On the graduate level, the task force had similar objectives. It was charged make recommendations about how to improve advising structures and support, as well as how to develop a greater sense of community and belonging for students across the schools.
