Scholarship Opportunities
There are many options and opportunities for helping make your summer at Genesis affordable to you. Please contact us with questions about any of the sources listed below. We work closely with families to help find sources of aid to make Genesis accessible to anyone.
Genesis Financial Aid
Through the generosity of Shirley and Milton Gralla, Genesis is excited to be able to offer substantial financial aid to applicants. Financial aid decisions are need-based and are made independently from admissions decisions. Financial Aid decisions are made on a first-come, first-served basis, so we strongly encourage you to apply for financial aid as soon as possible. Download the financial aid application.
Campership Incentives for First-Time Campers
Students who have never previously attended a Jewish summer camp may qualify for a $1000 incentive grant from the
Foundation for Jewish Camp. This is a non-needs based incentive program, intended to encourage students to participate in a first-time, daily Immersive summer Jewish experience. Unfortunately, students who attend a day school are not eligible for this program. Your community may already have a campership incentive program and if so, you should apply for the grant from your local Jewish federation. A list of communities with existing incentive programs can be found here. If your community does not have a campership incentive program, you may receive a grant through a partnership between Genesis and the Foundation for Jewish Camp. If you think you qualify for this incentive grant, please contact us.The Foundation for Jewish Camp, a public foundation, is the only national organization dedicated to nonprofit Jewish resident camps, advancing program and leadership excellence in camps and access to vibrant Jewish experiences for campers. The Foundation helps raise awareness and support for Jewish summer camps, highlighting their successful track record for building powerful Jewish commitment in young Jews, ensuring future Jewish continuity. FJC works with more than 150 camps, 70,000 campers, and 12,000 counselors across North America to further its mission.
Combined Jewish Philanthropies of Boston
The Combined Jewish Philanthropies (Boston’s Jewish Federation) offers need-based grants to students who are residents of the Boston area. Please contact us for more information.
Opportunities for Students from Russian Backgrounds
Genesis offers scholarships for students living in the United States and Canada from Russian backgrounds through the generous support of the Genesis Philanthropy Group and the Brandeis-Genesis Institute. To be considered for a scholarship, you must fill out the regular application to Genesis. Scholarships are $3600 and need-based scholarships are available to cover the remaining cost of tuition. To qualify for the need-based portion of the funds, you must complete the Genesis financial aid form.
Other Sources of Scholarship Money
Each year, the total amount of aid requested by families is greater than the total amount of scholarships Genesis can award. We are committed to making it possible for applicants who we accept to attend Genesis. However, we strongly encourage you to also explore scholarship possibilities in your own community such as: synagogues, JCCs, and local Jewish Federations, and Hebrew Free Loan Society. We are happy to speak on the phone to suggest possibilities and will do our best to help you find the aid that you need to attend Genesis.
