Photos and quotes from Genesis teens discussing the different types of religious, geographic, and educational diversity they experienced among their peers.

Diversity

The Genesis Community

Four weeks of living in diverse community with teens and educators from all over the country and the world, from a wide spectrum of Jewish practice and backgrounds, and with different interests and ideas - it's an experience that only Genesis can deliver.

Who Comes to Genesis?

High school students entering 11th and 12th grade from all over the United States and around the world.

Religious Diversity

Last summer Genesis participants and staff ranged in affiliations with all of the major movements of Judaism to unaffiliated with any movement.  Jewish practice and belief of participants and staff falls across a huge spectrum.

Geographic Diversity

Last summer Genesis participants came from 20 states, from Canada, and from Israel.  In the past, we have also had participants from other countries, including Turkey, Spain, and England.

Other Diversity

Genesis participants have a range of past educational experiences.  Some attend public high schools, others attend Jewish day schools.  Some have had limited Jewish education and others have had extensive Jewish education.  Some have attended summer camp for many years and others experience their first long-term program away from home at Genesis.

What do Genesis participants have in common?

Genesis participants are motivated, interested, teenagers who come with an open mind and a willingness to learn, teach, have new experiences, and make life-long friendships.
