How do I help my student register for classes?

Search for Classes
- To begin searching for classes, take a look at the course listings on the Registrar’s webpage.

Connect with Resources - Encourage your student to look at the course evaluation guide to read feedback from previous students. To access the guide, click here and select Course Evaluation Guide in the upper-left side of the screen. Note: a UNet ID and password are needed to view the guide, each student has one (it is the same username and password that is used for email account access).

Students can also ask peer advisors, called Roosevelt Fellows, for advice on classes. Roosevelt Fellows have also compiled a list of tips for parents.

Staff advisors are also available at the Office of Academic Services. Students can drop-in with questions every weekday from 1 to 5 p.m. in Usdan, room 130. Specific information is available online for First Year Students, Sophomores, Juniors, Seniors, and Transfer Students.

Parent resources (academic FAQs, tips for parents, etc.)  are also available online.

Register Online - Each student has an enrollment appointment (a randomly-assigned window of time to sign online and select their classes). To look up his/her appointment, your student should go to Sage, sign in (using a UNet ID and password), click SA Self-Service, click Student Services, click Academics, click Academic Services, click View Enrollment Appointment.

Then your student can enroll during his/her enrollment period by following the process outlined in online registration tutorials.

Should you or your student need technical assistance registering for classes on Sage, please contact or visit the help desk.

Other questions can be directed to the Registrar’s Office.
Please call 781-736-2010 or email registrar@brandeis.edu
.

My child has a disability; who should he/she contact?

Beth Rodgers-Kay, the Director of Disability Services, can help students to access support and accommodations. For more information, look online.

When can my child move to campus? Can my child live off-campus?

Residence halls open for new students on August 23, 2009 and for returning students on August 25, 2009; other important dates can be found online. The Department of Residence Life can answer any other questions that you may have regarding housing. Brandeis has recently adopted a gender neutral housing policy. If your child is considering off-campus housing, you can also download an off-campus housing guide and search the off-campus section of the Brandeis classifieds.

How will my child’s dietary needs be met?

For a list of places to get food on campus, click here and scroll down. The dining services website is a great resource for information about eating on campus, including an overview of different meal plans and information on Kosher dining options. Students are welcome to meet with our campus nutritionist, Laura O’Gara.

What happens if my child is ill?

If your child is ill, he/she can visit the on-campus Health Center. You can find information on emergencies, a list of FAQs, and hours of operation on the Health Center's website. In cases of an on-campus emergency, call Campus Police at 781-736-3333. Campus Police will send an officer and Brandeis Emergency Medical Corps (BEMCo) to respond.

What happens in the case of an emergency?

The Department of Public Safety encourages all members of the Brandeis community to register phone numbers and email addresses, in order to receive early notification of an on-campus emergency. There is also an early warning siren system in place, detailed instructions for different emergency scenarios, and an overview of building evacuation procedures.

Who should I contact regarding tuition questions?

The Office of Student Financial Services can address questions that you have with tuition and fees. You may also find it helpful to use the online cost of attendance calculator.  To contact the office directly, please email sfs@brandeis.edu or call 781-736-3700.

When is Parents’ Weekend?

Parents’ Weekend, which is commonly referred to as Fall Fest, will be October 22-25, 2009.

Questions, comments, and concerns can be directed to the Department of Student Activities at 781-736-5065.

How green is campus?

The campus community is actively taking steps to become more environmentally aware and conscientious. The Campus Sustainability Initiative is leading the way, and partnering with many other offices and programs, including dining services. For more information, please contact our Sustainability Coordinator, Janna Cohen-Rosenthal.
