Focusing on Global Economics and Finance

The Lemberg Master of Arts in International Economics and Finance (MAief) is an innovative, two-year degree that fully leverages our core strengths in international finance, economics, and business. The program targets the finance and economics skills needed to understand the forces driving the global economy and the operations of international capital markets - whether you plan to manage investment portfolios, design a government's trade and financial policies, or oversee a company's finances. The main elements of the curriculum are:

  • a conceptual framework for understanding global markets.
  • sophisticated skills in finance, accounting, business and economic analysis, and quantitative methods.
  • advanced expertise in one or more specialized areas-for example, derivatives, development policy, portfolio management, or the Chinese economy. Concentrations are offered in international finance, international business, and international economic policy.
  • an ability to apply skills and expertise to "real world" trends and challenges.

Program of Study
From learning skills and analytical approaches in the first year, you will quickly advance to specialized expertise and real-world applications. One of your four semesters in the program may be spent abroad.

Electives cover analytical subjects as well as hands-on courses in important areas of practice, often taught by a senior professional in the field. We pride ourselves in the dynamism of our offerings: one of six courses is new every year, keeping the curriculum fresh, and making it possible to use major current issues to motivate learning and analysis.

An illustrative course sequence is below but remember that your program will probably differ from this depending on your preparation and career objectives. To explore our offerings, see our course list.
