Mr. Asper is President and Chief Executive Officer of CanWest Global Communications Corp., Canada's leading international media company. His generosity led to the creation of the Asper Center for Global Entrepreneurship, and the annual Asper Forum and Asper Award for Global Entrepreneurship.

Mr. Asper received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Brandeis University in Boston, MA in 1986. He graduated from the University of Toronto Law School in 1989 and has been a member of the Ontario Bar since 1991.

Mr. Asper joined Canwest in 1991 as Associate General Counsel for the Company's Global Television station in Ontario. Thereafter, he held various positions in corporate development and was Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Asper took over as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Company in 1999. He is a Director and Deputy Chair of Ten Network Holdings Limited (Australia) and serves as a director of numerous companies within the Canwest group of companies. He is also a Director of the University of Winnipeg Foundation, Business Council of Manitoba, and Canadian Council of Chief Executives, and founder of The Joshua Foundation, a private charitable trust.
