Preparing for your Graduate Education
This summer the International Business School will once again hold an intensive three-week Business English Program, designed to improve English language skills and to prepare participants for the rigors of a graduate business education.
The program, which has been developed in collaboration with the world-renowned Berlitz International Language Center, is open to all those entering the Brandeis International Business School in Fall 2005, as well as business professionals who plan to apply to a graduate business program in the future. For Brandeis students, the program will fulfill the requirement that you may have for an “intensive English program” prior to beginning your degree program.
What the Program Offers
The Brandeis Business English Program, which runs for three weeks (Sunday, August 7- Friday, August 26, 2005):
- focuses on the listening, speaking, writing, and group problem-solving skills you need to succeed in a graduate business program
- provides you with the economic vocabulary and business understanding that cannot be found in basic ESL programs
- offers 27 hours (5 mornings and 4 afternoons) of instruction per week, nearly twice the amount of contact time as similar programs
- devotes a considerable number of sessions to social and cultural issues
- puts you in direct contact with Brandeis faculty with whom you will be studying throughout the school year
- features a variety of social activities that will allow you to get to know many of your classmates before the start of classes
- provides the following services to make your stay as pleasant as possible:
- comfortable housing throughout the program
- daily transportation to and from class
- continental breakfast and lunch on class days
Other Program Features
In addition, the Business English Program provides sufficient free time to:
- familiarize yourself with Waltham and Boston
- adjust to a new environment and culture
- locate, if you wish, off-campus housing
- arrange for telephone, internet, and other services
