Personal Interests:
I love traveling (especially in Latin America), baking (I make a mean carrot cake), learning about (and tasting) craft beer, reading and watching Dexter and True Blood.
Favorite courses taken at IBS:
Financial Modeling, Applied International Macro Economics
Best extracurricular activity related to my career:
The Global Markets Investment Club- the club provides students with the skills needed to analyze a company and make an intelligent investment decision. In one semester, I went from not even knowing what a "ticker" was to being a finalist in the annual Stock Pitch Challenge, where I presented in front of a panel of seven professional asset managers. If you put in the work, this club will help you prepare for finance-related interviews and introduce you to firms and professionals who can build your network and get you a job.
Best place to explore in the Boston/Cambridge/Waltham area:
Davis Square- they have tons of cute restaurants, cafes and pubs without the congestion of tourists that you will find in Harvard Square. If you are interested in craft beer- The Five Horses is the place to be!
Best advice for First Year students?
Get involved in extra-curricular activities immediately! Also, use Career Services. Katherine Prum is especially good at listening to students discuss their career goals and helping them design a 2-year plan to get them from graduate student to professional employee in 2 years.
