Season 2009 - 2010

Indoor and Outdoor Football - Times will be determined in August

The objective of the IBS Football Team is to play and enjoy the international game of football. The club welcomes men and women of all skill levels who are eager to play soccer with each other and other schools in the Boston area. The club was formed to promote activities, othe than academic ones, among IBS students. This is a chance for you to meet your classmates at a more personal level and create that sense of comradery that you can only find in sports teams. We play three tournaments during the school year. The main event is the Boston Graduate League. This league is organized by several graduate schools in the area including Babson, Harvard HBS, Harvard Law, MIT, Tufts and others. There are two intramural tournaments in which we participate including one in the fall (outdoors) and one in the spring (indoors). We practice once a week on Thursdays from 12:15 until 1:30 (anybody is welcome to join practice).

After two successful years in the Boston Graduate League there are high expectations for this year’s IBS team.

In 2005, under the direction of Vinay Nundall (Manager), Serdar Erkilic (Captain) and Esteban Ferro (Club President), we finally won the Championship after having a dry spell of more than ten years. This was a great achievement for Brandeis IBS since we are a smaller school compared to the others in the League. We had an unbelievable mix of talent in the field that led us to an undefeated season and to the Championship.

In 2006 after having some luck in the playoff draw we made it to the finals again. Unfortunately MIT Sloan crashed our dream of keeping the crown in our school after 90 minutes of intense competition.

In 2007, we are off to a great start. We have won our first three games and we look strong again. Unfortunately the team lost in the semifinal after an intense match

Last year, 2008, we had a great start again but due to some injuries we lost again in the semifinal against Harvard GSAS.

This year is a transition year for the club. After 4 years the leadership changed and a lot of players graduated and left the team.  We expect new players to join the team and to help the club to achieve success under the leadership of Nicola Banco (Captain and President), Mark Dunham (Vice-captain) and Kunal Singh (Vice-president)
