Adjunct Professor in the Brandeis International Business School
Adjunct Professor David Lundgren has been studying, developing and implementing technical analysis methods and models since graduating college in 1988. He has held senior level analyst positions with several large, well regarded research and portfolio management firms in Boston, and he has started two successful institutional technical research companies.
While there are many facets to the technical analysis body of knowledge, he specializes in momentum, trend following and relative strength strategies.
He currently works at a large institutional portfolio management firm in Boston, where he manages a long/short US equity portfolio exclusively using technical analysis models that he developed while at his latest research firm, Breakaway Research, Inc. In addition, he is a member of the Technical Research team that manages several global portfolios, and he provides the firm's portfolio managers, analysts and clients with technical analysis research.
David is a Chartered Market Technician (CMT), and is currently serving as chair of the Market Technicians Association (MTA) Advocacy Committee, which is tasked with the objective of increasing investor awareness of the many advantages of incorporating technical analysis into to their investment management process. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), reflecting his strongly held belief that sustained, durable price trends are driven only by strong fundamental trends.
