John Balder teaches courses about financial markets and economic policy at the International Business School at Brandeis University. Prior to joining Brandeis in Fall 2010, he worked on the historic financial regulatory reform initiative in Washington D.C. John’s experience includes fifteen years as an investment strategist with four Boston-based firms, including GMO and SSgA. He began his career in the public sector where he served for a decade as an international economist with the U.S. Treasury Department, Federal Reserve Bank of New York and the House Committee on Banking, Finance & Urban Affairs. John has published articles about financial markets, monetary policy and asset allocation in various industry publications, including the Central Banking Journal, Challenge and Pensions & Investments.
