Profile
Preeta's CV
Preeta Banerjee’s research focuses on the management of technology and innovation in entrepreneurial endeavors and how individuals, technology, the firm, and the industry evolve in the life sciences and clean tech industries. Her joint work on the role of human capital in technology development teams can be found in R&D Management and her work on the function of sources and types of financing in biotechnology development can be found in the International Journal of Technoentrepreneurship.
Preeta is one of the recipients of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Advanced Technology Program Award 2008-2009. She currently serves on the executive committee for the Academy of Management (AOM) Technology and Innovation Management (TIM) division. Preeta is also an active member of TiE-Boston.
Prior to joining the IBS faculty, Preeta was a faculty member at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She received her Ph.D. from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. Preeta spent close to three years at consultancy firms in the San Francisco Bay area working primarily with technology start-ups. She completed her B.S. in Computational Biology and Business Administration from the Mellon College and the Tepper School, Carnegie Mellon University. She teaches courses in Competition and Strategy, Business and the Environment, Managing Technology Businesses, and Technology Transfer and Global Innovation.
