Profile
Patricia Tovar’s primary research interest is in international trade, with emphasis on political economy and trade policy. Her recent work and current research focus on the effects of loss aversion on trade policy, the choice of inefficient redistribution policies in international trade, and trade liberalization. Prior to receiving her Ph.D. from the University of Maryland, she received her B.S. from the Catholic University of Peru and worked as an Economist at the Central Bank of Peru for 3 years. At Brandeis she teaches courses in the global economy and Latin America’s economy (undergraduate level), and international trade theory (Ph.D. level).
