Global Green Initiative

The Global Green Initiative at Brandeis International Business School (IBS) is a multidisciplinary program in research and education dedicated to innovative thinking in corporate sustainability. The Initiative’s mission is to gain a deeper understanding of the impact of environmental and social concerns on businesses strategy, and devise new approaches to sustainability and put them into practice. It is rooted in the realization that actions to advance sustainability can lead to business success as well as improve society and the environment.

The Initiative encompasses a wide array of the school’s activities in this area including: cutting-edge research by IBS faculty, visits to campus bty high-profile speakers from industry, special courses, and an active student organization, Net Impact. Students in the MBA program can qualify for "The Global Green MBA".

All IBS students, whether in the MBA program or an MA program can choose to specialize in Sustainability. That specialization was established in 2013.

The Global Green Initiative builds on the legacy of Justice Louis Brandeis who believed that companies ought to address broader social purposes beyond profits and that financial return ought not to be the only measure of success in business. IBS launched the initiative in 2008 with a talk by Tom Friedman (BA `75).

That talk is available here.
