WALTHAM, MA, April 3, 2014 – Brandeis International Business School (IBS) will honor Communispace Chairman Diane Hessan with its 2014 Asper Award for Global Entrepreneurship this evening at an event attended by key community leaders, faculty and students. It will also present Paul Walborsky, CEO of Gigaom, with the Alumni Achievement Award.

“It is a privilege to recognize Diane Hessan for her exceptional leadership as a global entrepreneur who has been a pioneer for social networking and building online communities,” said Brandeis IBS Dean Bruce Magid. “She embodies the entrepreneurial spirit the Asper Center treasures, and as a female entrepreneur, she serves as a tremendous role model for the next generation of women business leaders.”

“When Dean Bruce Magid called to tell me about this honor, I was touched and thrilled,” said Hessan. “Little did I know that along with the award I would have something even better:  the privilege of spending time with some of the inspiring and passionate students from Brandeis International Business School who represent the next generation of entrepreneurs in the global economy.”

The Asper Award for Global Entrepreneurship is given annually to a person who best exemplifies the Brandeis International Business School Asper Center’s values of entrepreneurial spirit and independent thinking. Last year’s recipient was Brian Lash, the founder of Target Companies.

Hessan and Walborsky will receive their honors during a reception at the InterContinental Boston.
