Marsh Carter is Chairman of the New York Stock Exchange Group and Deputy Chairman of the parent company NYSE Euronext. Mr. Carter has served as a Director of the NYSE since November 2003. Prior to that he was Chairman and CEO of the State Street Bank and Trust Company from 1991 to 2001. He worked for the Chase Manhattan Bank 1976-1991. He served in the Ford Administration at the State Department and before that was a Marine Corps infantry officer, serving two combat tours in Vietnam. As an infantry company commander he was awarded the Navy Cross and Purple Heart in 1967. He has been a Director and Board member of Allied Signal/Honeywell and is currently the Chair of the Board of Trustees at the Boston Medical Center.
He holds a BS degree from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point (1962), an MS in operations research and systems analysis from the Naval Postgraduate School (1970) and an MA from George Washington University, which he attended on the GI Bill.
