Joanna Barsh is a director at McKinsey & Company, a management consulting firm that advises leading companies on issues of strategy, organization, technology, and operations. In addition to doing consulting work, she spearheads the Centered Leadership Project, whose goal is to develop female leaders. In 2002, Mayor Michael Bloomberg appointed Barsh to the New York City Commission on Women's Issues. Barsh is the coauthor of How Remarkable Women Lead: The Breakthrough Model for Work and Life. She has received numerous honors, including the Woman of Distinction Award from the Girl Scout Council and a Making a Difference for Women Award from the National Council for Research on Women. She holds degrees from the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Chicago, and Harvard Business School, where she was a Baker Scholar.
