Stuart A. Spencer is Chief Operating Officer of Chubb Accident & Health Worldwide, a unit of one of the world's largest property and casualty insurance groups.
Mr. Spencer joined the Chubb Group of Insurance Companies as a Senior Vice President and head of its Accident and Health division in June 2009 after more than a dozen years in the insurance industry. Based in Hong Kong, he has global P&L responsibility for one of Chubb's key business units and oversees the strategic development of innovative accident and supplementary health products for both consumers and businesses delivered through multiple distribution platforms.
After starting his career at American Express TRS, where he held several senior marketing positions, Mr. Spencer joined American International Group in 1996 as Executive Vice President of AIG International Services, Inc., and was later named President of the unit. Between 2000 and 2009, he managed AIG's General insurance operations in Latin America and the Caribbean. In 2004, he moved to Hong Kong to run the AIG Life Companies' Accident and Health business for Southeast Asia. In 2006, Mr. Spencer was promoted to President of Accident and Health Worldwide, for AIG Life Companies, a multi-billion dollar business that spanned more than 80 countries.
He received a B.A., magna cum laude, in Islamic and Middle Eastern studies from Brandeis University. His M.A. with High Honors in International Affairs was earned at Tuft University's Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, which was founded in collaboration with Harvard University, with which it continues to maintain shared course registration and other privileges. |
