Charles (Skuk) Jones is an associate and former research fellow of the Belfer Center. A member of the Energy Technology Innovation Policy research group and the Energy Research, Development, Demonstration, & Deployment (ERD3) Policy Project, he researches innovation in the private sector and in public-private partnerships.

Skuk's topics of research include organizations, management, and strategy; policy for energy, technology, and innovation; and modeling complex systems. In the ERD3 Project, he analyzed public-private partnerships at the Department of Energy and led a survey of energy technology innovation in U.S. businesses. He contributed to analysis of Department of Energy budget requests and management issues and to the International Energy Agency's new data collection procedures.

Dr. Jones holds a Ph.D. in Public Policy from the University of Massachusetts Boston where he studied the dynamics of the local photovoltaic industry, and an undergraduate degree in physics. He served for nine years as an officer in the U.S. Navy in nuclear submarines. Prior to joining Harvard Kennedy School, he was an adjunct professor at UMass Boston College of Management, where he taught courses in managing organizations and leadership skills.
