CEO Forum - Michael Frieze, CEO, Gordon Brothers

Mr. Frieze is Chief Executive Officer of Gordon Brothers Group. The company, founded in 1903, provides customized global financial and operating solutions for consumer product companies at times of growth or restructuring.

Since its founding, Gordon Brothers has offered its clients a full range of services to maximize their assets. Gordon Brothers assists retailers with asset redeployment within merger, acquisition, strategic downsizing or other restructuring circumstances. Gordon Brothers also provides debt and equity capital, inventory and fixed asset management, real estate and advisory services for hundreds of consumer product companies.

Mr. Frieze is responsible for Gordon Brothers' overall strategic direction. He has extensive experience in financing and operating retail businesses, having served in executive positions at Gordon Brothers companies for over 35 years. During his tenure, Gordon Brothers has expanded from a retail liquidator to a full-service provider of strategic business and capital solutions to healthy and distressed companies alike. Mr. Frieze is highly respected throughout the retail and wholesale industry. Prior to joining Gordon Brothers in 1966, Mr. Frieze was a Management Consultant for Harbridge House, and owned and operated his own consumer marketing business.

Mr. Frieze exemplifies Gordon Brothers’ commitment to community service. He has served in top leadership positions on many community and corporate boards, including Campaign Chair of Combined Jewish Philanthropies of Greater Boston, Chair of the New England Region of the American Technion Society, and Board member of Facing History and Ourselves. Currently, he is a Governor and Trustee of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, a Trustee of Children’s Hospital, a Board member of Yemin Orde, Board member of Brandeis University, Board member of Hebrew College, and Board member of The Hartman Institute.

Mr. Frieze is a past recipient of the Albert Einstein Award and has received an honorary fellowship from the American Technion Society. He also received the Young Leadership Award from Combined Jewish Philanthropies. He holds a B.A. from Bowdoin College and an M.B.A. from M.I.T.'s Sloan School of Management.
