Elana Lehavy Givens '76, new Assistant Dean for Career Services, focuses on alumni and corporate relationships
GSIEF has appointed a new Assistant Dean to head its Office of Career Services, Elana Givens.

Givens, herself a Brandeis alum and a graduate of MIT's Sloan School of Management, comes to the job with extensive experience in developing and managing business relationships. In her work as Managing Partner at a consulting practice, she advised corporations from the US, Europe and Asia on their business strategies. She has worked for clients in a wide spectrum of industries and is very familiar with the global business environment that so many of GSIEF's students aspire to work in.

Givens commented on her appointment, "I am looking forward to interacting with as many companies and Brandeis alumni as possible. My priority in coming to GSIEF is to ensure that the market is aware of the talent pool we have here. The students are very bright, hard-working and motivated. From what I have seen so far, they are able to compete with the best in the market."

Dean Petri said "We are very fortunate to have secured Elana Givens to lead the Careers Services effort at GSIEF. In a difficult economy, the School needs someone who understands what companies need and can present to them, in their terms, what its students can offer. Our students can have confidence that they will get top caliber, professional advice as they conduct their employment search."

One of Givens' first tasks in her new role was to plan GSIEF's annual Career Advice Expo, which took place at Brandeis on 30 January, 2003. See more details of the event.
