The Center, which is connected seamlessly at each of its three levels to the existing Sachar International Center, is home to new classrooms, conference areas and offices. The World Court, which houses a popular cafe, is a dramatic space at the heart of the building, lit from floor to ceiling by windows overlooking wetlands and a wooded hillside. The new building roughly doubles the size of the facilities at IBS.

Louis Brandeis
Louis Brandeis was a prominent corporate lawyer and also the Peoples Counsel. He thought and wrote widely on the issues of his day. His ideas remain important guideposts as we grapple with the business challenges of the 21st century.

In his book, Business a Profession, written some 90 years ago, Brandeis presaged the development of professional business schools and urged us to adopt the highest standards in the education and practice of business.

In The Curse of Bigness, Brandeis warned against the potential perils of corporations operating without proper safeguards. His famous dictum, Sunshine is the best disinfectant, is again a rallying point in the nations reaction to recent corporate scandals.

Samuel Lemberg
The Lemberg Academic Center is named for Samuel Lemberg, whose grandsons provided the leadership gift for the building of the Center.
samuel_lemberg_150 (21K) Business executive, community leader and international philanthropist, Samuel Lemberg was one of Brandeis Universitys earliest supporters in New York City and a key strategist behind the universitys rapid growth.

In the Honorary Degree Citation presented to Sam Lemberg, Dr. Abram Sachar, Founding President of Brandeis, said.Neither the poverty of his childhood, nor his decades in the marketplace of American business, have coarsened the fiber of his humanity or quenched the flame of his compassion.
