Story Title Goes HereIBS Celebrates Brandeis Jubilee
During this academic year, Brandeis University celebrates the 150th anniversary of the birth of its namesake, Justice Louis D. Brandeis. The event will be marked by a series of events at the university over the coming months.

As part of the celebration, the International Business School has published a special edition of its WorldView periodical, dedicated to Louis Brandeis' commentary on business and its place in society. The publication, entitled Brandeis on Business, contains an introduction by IBS founding Dean, Peter Petri; an article by distinguished Circuit Court of Appeals Judge, Richard A. Posner, based on a talk given at the International Business School in 2004; the full text of Brandeis' essay Business - A Profession; and a series of quotations from Brandeis' writings on business.

Before his appointment to the Supreme Court, Brandeis practiced commercial law. He was fascinated both by the way business worked and the impact it had on society. While the business world of his day differed in many respects from that of our own, many of his insights - for instance on financial disclosure, entrepreneurship, ethics, and pensions - still have the ability to open up new perspectives and stimulate debate.
