IBS Assistant Prof. Can Erbil to serve at Center for German and European Studies

IBS Assistant Professor Can Erbil was recently named the new Assistant Director at the Center for German and European Studies at Brandeis.

  

 

 

 Erbil specializes in international trade and development economics with a focus on trade liberization, tax reforms, and macroeconomic policy recommendations. Among many other subjects, Erbil teaches courses in international trade and globalization at undergraduate and graduate levels. “I’m delighted to serve this role which will allow me to advance our understanding of this important region,” he said.

 

A Research Fellow at EcoMod, Global Economic Modeling Network, Erbil is involved with research workshops in Brussels, Ottawa, Istanbul, Caracas, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain and Quito.

 

 

Erbil is also a Research Associate at the ERF, Economic Research Forum for the Arab Countries, Iran and Turkey. After having worked as a consultant at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston and at the World Bank, Erbil became a full-time faculty member at Brandeis in 2002.

 

 

Fluent in German, Erbil will be attending The Berlin International Economics Congress in February, which will hold a conference entitled, “An Interdisciplinary Analysis of the Roles of Global Politics & Civil Society in International Economics.”
