Amy R. Kessler ’89, MA ’90 launches the Kessler Challenge for the Peter Petri Global Fellowship

Feb. 4, 2011 WALTHAM, Mass. -- To inspire Brandeis alumni and friends to follow her generous lead, Amy R. Kessler ’89, MA ’90 has launched the Kessler Challenge for the Peter Petri Global Fellowship.

“The Kessler Challenge provides Brandeis International Business School supporters the opportunity to make their gifts go even farther."

Amy R. Kessler, a member of the Brandeis International Business School’s Board of Overseers, has agreed to match each gift, up to a total of $10,000, made by March 31. If your company has a matching program, you may be able to triple the impact of your gift.

“My Brandeis International Business School education was literally a gift! A family I did not know sponsored my education. Without their support, I would not have had the opportunity to attend graduate school at Brandeis,” said Amy, a Senior Vice President of Pension and Structured Solutions at Prudential Retirement. “Together, Brandeis International Business School alumni can turn around and give the same gift to someone else – the most extraordinary personal and professional global education available anywhere.”

The Peter Petri Global Fellowship, established in 2006 in honor of the school's founding dean, provides fellowship assistance to students from three different continents every year. The students must demonstrate financial need and have overcome difficult challenges in their studies and their lives. The 2011 Petri Fellows hail from China, Iceland, and the United States.

“We thank Amy for her generosity in launching the Kessler Challenge for the Peter Petri Global Fellowship,” said school Dean Bruce Magid, the Martin and Ahuva Gross Chair in Financial Markets and Institutions. “The Kessler Challenge provides Brandeis International Business School supporters the opportunity to make their gifts go even farther. For instance, a gift of $100 will provide $200 of fellowship support to our students.”

About 70% of students receive fellowship assistance and as our alumni prosper, more and more of them are giving back what they have received.

Mark Goldberger, MBA ’09 on why he supports Brandeis IBS
"Receiving an academic scholarship from IBS meant that I could afford to go to business school.
As an IBS alum, I feel it is my duty to give a little back, so that future students can experience what
I did. I truly believe I received a valuable education, unlike anywhere else in the country. At IBS I
formed lifelong friendships with classmates from around the world, and at IBS I learned how to be
a better businessman and leader. I want to offer future students the same opportunity that I had, to
learn and grow in an amazing environment. Donating to IBS is the least I can do."
