Brandeis alumni and friends from the New York City area joined us on January 12, 2011 for the Sixth Annual New Year's Celebration hosted by Brandeis International Business School. This year featured a dynamic and engaging conversation with Bernard Schwartz, an industrialist, philanthropist and progressive public policy advocate. The keynote address was sponsored by the Perlmutter Institute for Global Business Leadership and Louis Perlmutter '56, founder of the institute and a Brandeis trustee, served as moderator. We were also pleased to have President Frederick M. Lawrence deliver introductory remarks. Despite the weather, nearly 100 Brandeis alums and friends attended the event. In his remarks, Mr. Schwartz encouraged Americans to take more personal responsibility for the economy and do a better job of holding the business community and regulators accountable for their actions.
