Housing and Cost of Living in Paris

Université Paris Dauphine will help students to make arrangements for their accommodation in Paris. There is space for a limited number of applicants. Preference will be given to those who apply early.

Dauphine estimate that the monthly cost of accommodation will be in the region of FF3,000 to 3,500 a month (= €460 to €540, =US$460 to US$540).

Cost of Living in Paris
On the whole Paris is less expensive to live in than New York, but more than Boston. In July 2001 the Economist Intelligence Unit published a cost of living indices for cities around the world. Paris ranked the 15th most expensive large city in the world with an index of 95 (New York = 100). Chicago also had an index of 95; Boston was rated as 84.

Subsidized food is available to students at Dauphine. Their estimate is that a reasonable meal can be obtained for $2-3, and that eating costs should not come to more than around $10 a day (depending on how often you eat out and where you eat).
