Off-Campus Housing
Students at IBS live in a wide area around the School. As well as in Waltham itself, many choose to rent apartments in Boston or Cambridge, which are within comfortable commuting distance of the School. The three cities all offer a high quality of life, and each has its own particular virtues.
Although the housing situation in the Waltham/Boston area is tight, there are many resources available at Brandeis and on the internet for students to find off-campus accommodation. In practice, by using those resources and networking effectively with each other, most students have located accommodation without much difficulty.
While it is up to students to secure their own off-campus housing, the Office of Administration and Student Services at IBS can give advice. The university's Graduate Student Services website gives guidance on locating housing, transport, rental rates, and the university's House Hunting Weekend. You will also find there contact details for the Coordinator of Graduate Student Services in the Office of Student Life, who can answer questions about housing.
On-Campus Housing
There is a limited amount of graduate housing at Brandeis University. Priority is given to students participating in the IBS Study Abroad Program.
Please contact Matthew Rocker in the Office of Administration and Student Services if you would like more information.
